New artwork

I have always been fascinated in painting nude bodies ;-)

, when a man or a woman poses nude, it is much more interesting because of the natural beauty and that in a comfortable manners, we are not afraid of having small breasts or plenty of wrinkles or big butt ;-). Maybe the definition of beauty or art is large, and that each of us holds our own opinions, that's why some people do not find nude paintings beautiful while others do.

I currently finish reading a couple of interesting books such as the Joyluck club of Amy Tan, The Long Tail..etc. Of course, the content of these books are very much different from each other, one is about the several generations of Chinese women, the other is about the new theory of the economy where scarity of goods belongs to the past, and we are talking about the economy of abundance.

Anyway, movies have also been on my calendar with several good films-good in the sense that they made me think about the current world, about life.. like Micheal Clayton, the American Gangters (related to the VN war, typical movie of the 70s), Lions for Lambs...etc.

Talking about movies, recently there is a scandal in VN where a young girl who had a sex video where she slept with her boyfriend (remind us why we should NEVER do that) distributed online. Of course, in the West, this makes her the "Vnese Paris", would eventually bring her fame and loads of money but in VN, the nineteen years old (she was an idol of a famous student reality show in VN)lost her job and destroyed her future career while nothing has been said on her boyfriend who is currently studying in US, son of the Chief Police (imagin how a chief's salary allows his son studies in US). Whilst IMHO, I think it is their business, and what happened should not be the reason to fire her, I do think that it is not fair that all the attention and criticism has been focused on this poor girl. I hope she is being strong, and maybe she should find her ways out of VN.

Well, next post hopefully will be on foods ;-)

    Hi Thao,
I've heard about Vang Anh, it is so unfair to focus on her and criticize only her. But that is a fact of conception of gender in Vietnam. What a pity!
By the way, have you seen the movie"Bella" directed by Alejandro Gomez Monteverde ? This movie took top prize at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival by winning the "People's Choice Award".
I like it. I think this is a good movie which could figure out the role, duty as being male and female. I like the way to romance in this movie.
Thao, I love your color's co-ordinates in your pictures.

    Hey there,

Hmm, have not seen that movie, will try looking for it in the rental shop. Sounds interesting. Yeah, there are so many other problems in VN apart from the problem of gender roles, just felt so sorry for this girl...

Thanks, I am only a beginner, only painting is a way to release stress and frustration...like cooking, I guess ;-)
