Belgium's Atomium

France has Eiffel Tower, Belgium has the Atomium. It is one of the most astonishing buliding in the world, and major landmark on Brussels's skyline. It has recently reopened its door after one year of renovations.

The Atomium was designed by Andre Waterkeyn, an engineer for the Internatinal Exhibition of Brussels that took place in 1958. Its struture is haftway between sculpture and architecture.

There are nine spheres, each is 18 meters large, and is joined by tubes. It is made with steel clad and alummium, about 102 meters high and is held on two big bipods.

Small country but many great minds ;-)
