La Ducasse de Mons-Doudou 2009

30.000 people coming to a small town of Belgium, too many got drunks, too many men trying to pull the hair from the dragon tail for luck...It all started on a quiet sunny morning but ended in the rain, and an old building collapsed ;-), but that didn't kill the fun!

My ever deception in humananity-"Their Darkest Hours"

I am reading a book on how people were tested in extreme environment, situations such as in war. Someone is nice in a normal environment can be pushed by external influences and forces to be real bad in order to survive. That's why there were many Jewish killed, many chinese women raped and one was eaten (yes, this is true, and only one story was told, imagine!) by Japanese soldiers...But what was worse that there were many betrayals happened in these extreme circumtances, friends sold friends, and nobody can trust nobody, let's not mention about asking for help.

We have tried to do better in some ways, I suppose to not let these horrible things happen again. However, it is in our nature that we are bad, and only under certain circumtances, we can really know ourselves and others. Certainly there are always decent human beings who despite whatever situations they are in, they will do the right things. If not, we wouldn't have any survivors in WWII. We indeed do not need religion to make war but hatred, selfishness, greed and the belief in superior race.

How can you trust if many times you have been betrayed? How will we behave in our darkest hours?

Reviews

Good foods and good music, what's else does we look for in a stay-in evening with friends?
I was under the impression that May was a short month, maybe because there were two long weekends with a lot of activities. Now, am only at the beginning of June and it feels as if I have been bitten by sleepy mosquito or something, I can go to bed at 9pm when the day light is still laying out of my windows, the street lights are not even turned on yet, fall into deep sleep and waking up as if I haven't slept the last night ;-).

May was a month of many interesting meetings, new friends, old friends, each meeting left me a big smile on the face. May was a month of good readings, I have finished three books this month, which I took great pleasure in: "The white Tiger"-if you like the "Slum Dog Millionaire" movie, you would love this book, it gives a deeper insights of India's rich and poor; "The adventures of Sherlock Holmes", My favourite detective book, although I read this book of Conan Doyle in Vnese, reading in English gave greater pleasure, I admire the observation skill of Holmes and the friendship between him and Watson, I just hope the movie they are making will be as good; "The hobbit" made me dream of the land far far away....

May was also a month of good proposals at work, open new door to something grand. I can't wait.

Jun will be not as busy as May, I plan on some long read, have got Alexandre Dumas's great book on my hand-"The count of Monte Cristo", and I think I am going to enjoy the count's good revenges. I also have got some plans for Jun but that will come in later posts.
