Wanna add some spice to your life? ;-)

A few weeks ago when I was in Delhaize, I saw this strange garlic ;-). Since I ran out of garlic at home, I decided to buy them to try. In fact, when comparing the price and the weight with other garlic (most of the good garlics are from Spain, and usually the pink ones are the best-they are very dry, and can be kept for a long time), these are cheaper. I am even more surprised when I saw that those garlic are from HK ;-).
Another reason to buy probably is because the name on the package "Spice of life" ;-), quite funny. I already used haft of them to make pickles, I think it's best used that way because when you fry them, the smell is not as strong as the normal garlic.

Ruben's cooking ;-)

Didn't know Ruben cooks good, and he surely deserves an A ;-) for being a great cook and a hilarious host.
BTW, one of the dish is called ropa vieja-old clothes ;-)

Cuban Soiree ;-)

There were only four of us but we had a very good time. I have not eaten so well thanks to Ruben's A grade in cooking, and I have not laughed so much thanks to our little stories of childhood and culture.
It was surely the best Cuban night, and I hope not it would not be the last ;-).

Autumn

Every year I am stunned by my neighbour's wall twice, in Spring and in Autumn.
In Spring, the wall is covered with the green colour, and the bird usually comes, and try to take small broken branches to build their nests.
In begining of September, the wall starts to get a light orange some part, and then very quickly, it covered with this beautiful colour of the season. In VN, Autumn is considered to be the most romantic season in the year (in the South, there are only two seasons, but in the North, there is the little bit of different in weather of the four seasons). There are plenty of love songs written to describe the leave fall, when the wind gets a bit chill, and when there is some light rain, enough to give a the whole picture of two lovers become envious.
I came to Belgium end of Autumn, and I could remember how much I liked that feeling of a quiet of Sunday (don't forget I am from one of noisiest country in the world ;-), the motorbike country), the leave on the trees that were planted in row on both side of the streets are yellow or red, the gooses, ducks in Flagey lakes took shower on the lake's bank, it was just relaxing and refreshing feeling.
Glowing before dying? Too pessimistic probably ;-). Even trees want to be beautiful before it goes to bed? ;-)

pickles

Apart from killing time in cleaning, reading, puzzle, I have spent time in finding ways to make different possible pickles ;-). They are super good for noodles, rice and any Asian dishes. Can be served as apperitifs.

Puzzles ;o)

I have always wanted to complete puzzle, and now as I have more time, I wants that even more. So, while I was walking around the shops on Saturday, I decided to check out the toy shop, and bought this box of puzzle, which I intend to put them together during the next couple of months.

Many of my friends probably noticed that I am an impatient person, so with this, I am hoping to train myself to be a bit more patient with things, and maybe hopefully, my observation skills will also get better ;-)

Fondue of old time

I remember when I was in VN, we often used this type of fondue, where the hole in the middle was filled with hot charcoals to warm the soup. There is no electricity or gas, only charcoals.
Now there are plenty of more "convenient", and clean fondue, easy to clean, but I was quite happy to find a VN restaurant here last week that is still using this ;-). Brought nostalgy.
