I am BACK! ;-)

Sorry to updating a bit later, after holidays, you know how things are, a lot of work, so I only find reasonable time today to write something.

After three weeks of holidays, I was a bit sad to have to come back to Brussels. The journey back to Brussels was so long that at some points it would soon finish.

I had a great time staying in Bangkok. It is a crazy city. We stayed near to Khao San road, the backpacker quarter and well, I am glad we did because in the weekend's evenings, there were several Thai band played some awesome music in the warm weather. We also noticed some weird backpackers who behaved as if they were in paradise :-), drunk, stoned, acting crazy...I had plenty of foot massages :-), manicure and pedicure :-), I had fun talking to the masseuse because she knew some Vnese words, "Vietnamese and Thai look the same, the language is different", she said ;-).

No words can describe the pleasure I had when I shopped in Thailand, especially on the weekend market abit in the outskirt :-). Everywhere I went I bargained, mind you I had no idea of the price but I just liked to bargain because the shop keepers were very nice to talk to. I don't know if it was because of the chanting, praying sound that the temples in BK put on speakers out on the street, Thai people are so relaxed and it made everything around them looked relax, simple even with the political chaos in the country. FYI, I did not once see any red shirts on the streets, probably if I had seem them, I wouldn't be able to write these lines ;-).

Foods and drinks were plentiful and gorgeous, I especially enjoyed fish cakes and some other spicy hot dishes. However, I think the taste is sweet, they put sugar as codiments for you to put in soup..etc.

I also enjoyed my time at home. I was able to visit my grandparents's place where they were born and grew up. It is a silk producing village, my grandparents used to be silk weavers and to be honest, I am very proud of them because they brought this skill to the Saigon where the silk fabrics that they wove were well-known in the big shops in Saigon during the late 50-60s. Now, the main activity in the village is still weaving but they now weave cotton net for fishing or something. Everywhere you go, you hear the sound of the weaving machines. This reminded me of my childhood, we used to have four weaving machines at home (after my grandfather got out of prison, he wanted to rebuild what he had lost) and I had loved sleeping near to those or spent time with the people who worked at home then.

My mom also organised a trip out of Saigon, near to Mekong river, where I had tasted the most amazing, lost foods in the countryside. I will post some photos soon.

In the mean time, there were plenty of nice stuffs happening in Brussels, last weekend, we enjoyed the jazz marathon concerts and this coming weekend, there will be some very well-known chefs who will cook dishes and offer them at reasonable price as well as the horse show Euroferia!

As for me, I am dreaming to Dublin, my next city trip end of this month :-0)
